When is a reply to my data request due?

Enter the day the organisation received your request. You will get the date a reply is due, and what changes it.

Deadline calculator

For example, the day the organisation signed for your letter.

Was the clock stopped while they asked you for something?

Loading the calculator…

This works out a date. It does not tell you whether an organisation has done anything wrong, or what to do about it.

The detail, in plain English

Working out a deadline
Enter the day the organisation received your request. The calculator works out when a reply is due, and what changes that: an extension, or time when the clock was stopped. It runs in your browser, so what you type is not sent anywhere.
What "stop the clock" means
An organisation can pause the deadline while it asks you for something it reasonably needs, such as proof of identity. The deadline moves by the days it was paused. If the clock is stopped and has not restarted, the calculator says so rather than guessing a date.
When the deadline can be extended
The response period can be extended by a bounded further period, and the organisation has to explain why before the original deadline passes. The calculator shows the latest date that could take it to, and never offers more than the law allows.
Complaining before going to the ICO
A complaint now goes to the organisation first, and it has to acknowledge it within a set period. The calculator works out the day to chase that acknowledgement, and reads the period from the same place the rest of the product does.

Want us to send it and chase it for you?

That is what we are building next. Leave your email and we will tell you when it is ready.

Used to confirm your place and nothing else.

It works without an email too. The deadline calculator below is free and sends us nothing.
